So our second week in Bartlett has been pretty good. Still trying to get to know the members and find new investigators. On one of our finding adventures, we tried to shake hands with a guy who said, "Let me stop you right there. I'm a heathen and I plan to stay that way," except in more colorful language. That was...interesting.
On Wednesday we had a great specialized training meeting. We practiced teaching the restoration from the pamphlet in 7 minutes then went out to practice teaching. I got to meet "Amen Charlie." He is a member from Memphis who is famous in the mission for sitting in the front pew at church and saying amen during talks and sustainings. We shared the message with his family members who are less active. The Spirit was so strong! His sister Mary had been praying about coming back to church that morning. His niece Dominique just had a baby and she said she wants to have her son blessed and grow up with a knowledge of the Lord. We committed them to coming to church. We asked who they knew that needed the message also, and Mary asked for some pass-along cards and is going to go talk to her neighbors. It was an awesome lesson, and cool to see the things we learned in action!
Friday we had lunch with a Samoan family, the Kents. They are SO amazing. Sister Kent goes to the temple every night, and you can tell she just has a special spirit because of it. She is the sweetest and she calls us "angels of the Lord." And she spoiled us, I was seriously still full at breakfast time Saturday morning. We shared the restoration with her and her daughter, who doesn't go to church as much as she'd like. Her daughter felt the spirit very strongly when we talked about families. She really wants to share the gospel with the people she works with and go to the temple. It was really inspired that we called them to set up a time to get to know them better.
